On the path of pursuing knowledge, numerous teachers we have encountered may have a lifelong
impact on us, and even contribute to shaping who we are. Looking back on my school life, my teachers can be generally classified into three types: dedicated, approachable, and irresponsible.
Dedicated teachers are most popular among students not only because of their outstanding professional knowledge but also because of their devotion to the career of teaching. You can expect more than class time of them. They may have a face-to-face communication with you after class to enlighten you with a tricky math problem. They may sacrifice their family time to keep you company so that you can smooth your emotional problem caused by your own family. Needless to say, most teachers fall into this category.
The second type of teacher may seem less qualified in terms of their teaching skills, but they can also easily win students’ hearts because they can be entrusted with our deepest secrets. Childhood and adolescence are awkward periods when we struggle to explore our own way in the world. Our peers may be just as inexperienced as us while our parents seemingly live on another planet. So a friendly adult like approachable teachers can be a life saver.
We tend to be careful when labeling a teacher irresponsible, but they do exist. Some of them may have temper issue, while others may disregard their own job. One of my teachers fit the description, who was directly linked to my poor academic performance during his stint.
In the future, as my learning continues, I will have opportunities to meet more teachers. Whereas, never will I forget the assistance from my previous teachers or their passion for knowledge.

Hearing that you have access to participate in an overseas communication activity in Britain which will last two months, I’m now writing to extend a helping hand, hoping that my suggestions that you should
choose working as a volunteer thirty hours every month for the local community nursing home to gain an opportunity to stay in it for free may be beneficial to you to some extent.
There are three main reasons accounting for my proposal. First and foremost, only by working as a volunteer can you attain a free stay. Apparently, in contrast with the accommodation arranged by the host, you can save a substantial amount of money. (1) News came that our school will organize a shot walking tour to explore Shanghai on 1st May in the afternoon. The route starts from People’s Square, via East Nanjing Road, and ends at the Bund, and then return the same way. This is a great activity, (2)while there may be some room for improvement.
(3)First, 1st May is not the best time. It is a vacation when many people will come to visit the city. (4)Crowded and noisy, push and squeeze, all of that will prevent the (5)tour from being a great memory. Second, the route does not cover some most glamorous parts of the city. A survey conducted recently indicates that the parents who are proud of their children are twenty percent more than the children who consider themselves as prides of their parents.
There exist two reasons, which may account for this subtle difference. First, conservative Chinese parents are never accustomed to conveying directly how much they are proud of their kids. This tendency to conceal feelings hardly helps children develop a strong sense of self-confidence. Second, the current educational system excessively emphasizes the value of academic performance, thus forcing children to extensively believe that only by achieving excellent scores can they make their parents proud. This bias unfairly undermines the significance of talents for art and sports, which easily frustrates children and renders them more likely to underestimate themselves.
Without the genuine encouragement from parents and the reversal of exam-oriented educational methods, a kid would never end up with a positive grown-up.

Today I had an unusual experience, which refreshed my mind. With pupils I spent two periods of time in a primary school, watching them learn how to paint. A little girl named Amy, one student of the class, left me a deep impression with her unique painting.
In the first lesson the teacher required the pupils to paint freely. Namely, in any way they could draw whatever they’d like to. Amy was the first one to have a try. I saw her think for a little while, take off her shoes, then dip her feet slightly into the paint/ink. Much to my surprise, in a flash she managed to make a nice design on a broad piece of white paper/blanket with both of her feet. What happened next, various of types of works painted by other children appearing before my eyes one by one, kept me laughing with joy and amusement.
Following a break, the second class began. Smiling, the teacher made a brief comment, which was full of praise as well as appreciation. After that, she gave the students some guidance about the traditional way of painting. With her teachers’ words in mind, Amy practiced again. Painting-brush in hand, she sat a desk properly/straight, paying full attention to her work. This time，with ease and excitement she drew some birds flying high in the sky /sun.
Looking back at the two ways of giving a class, I have to admit the teacher was well worth following in matters of cultivating “flowers” in the spirit of originality. Given that children are of great imagination and elasticity in their growth, they are supposed to be given as many chances and opportunities as possible in the course of being educated so as to develop their potential to the full. Were the young always confined to the established ways of doing things without a free world, one that is also longed for by the ambitious birds drawn by Amy, how can we expect the next generation our civilized nation would be more innovative and creative ?
