(2018届高三·江西九江十校联考)Traveling to Europe to see its famous monuments like the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Colosseum (古罗马竞技场) in Rome, is not exactly the ideal vacation for kids. Fortunately, Europe has more to offer than lots of old churches and ancient history. You can enjoy some fun with your kids in the sun at some of the famous beaches of the continent.
Mykonos, Greece
The closer you get to the equator, the longer the beach season is, and Greece is wonderful for that. You can enjoy beautiful green water, public chairs and lovely umbrellas at the beaches in Mykonos.
Dubrovnik, Croatia
There's nothing more attractive than the beautiful beaches bordering Dubrovnik, Croatia's most beautiful city. It's surrounded by stone walls like a castle. It almost makes you feel like you're suntanned (晒黑皮肤) at Hogwarts, where the hero Harry Potter of the story is trained!
Sicily, Italy
Rabbit Beach on the island of Sicily offers shallow and crystal clear waters, making it a perfect beach for families with young children. And if you want to add interest to your experience, try snorkeling (徒手潜水).
Nice, France
Lined with palm trees and firstclass hotels, the city of Nice, located on the French Riviera, offers a whole coastline of Mediterranean beaches. Because they're in the heart of the city, these beaches attract a large crowd. So if you're looking for something more private, you'll have to travel a few miles outside of the city center.
Ribadeo, Spain
At low tide, Playa de las Catedrales in Ribadeo, Spain is the perfect beach to take in the natural wonders without urban amusements like restaurants, bars or huge crowds. It boasts beautiful wild flowers and unique rock formations making it truly a picture worthy.

(2017·贵州省普通高等学校招生适应性考试)
When I was in college, I spent a semester studying abroad at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. In my brief time there, I came to love Scotland for its local culture, food and scenery.
You might think,“Scotland isn't so different from the US; they still speak English there!” But when I stepped off the plane, I was greeted by a gruffvoiced (声音粗哑的) lady at customs.“You'll be coming from America, then?” She asked me, and I nodded.“But all of our guys are leaving Glasgow for the States!” Her thick Scottish English and sense of humor were obvious right away. I was not in the US any more, where customs agents never joke around.21*cnjy*com
As I settled in at the university, I could feel myself getting used to hearing — and even speaking — the Scottish English of my customs agent. In classroom discussions, people would say “em” when they couldn't think of what to say instead of “um”, which was great fun. After the first few weeks, I stopped chuckling about this. Strathclyde students stayed up late into the night, running around campus and shouting,“Go! Lat's go, lat's go, lat's go (curse word) Glasgow!” Pretty soon, I was no longer saying “thanks” at the supermarket — instead, I said “cheers”.【版权所有:21教育】
My Scottish friends drank whiskey and ate haggis (羊杂碎布丁). I drank plenty of whiskey but I was ashamed to admit that I wasn't brave enough to try haggis. Scottish bakeries usually sell bridies (肉馅饼). Add a cup of tea — though I usually Americanized it by choosing coffee instead — and a bridie makes for a delicious breakfast.
Every time I took a train anywhere in Scotland, I'd gaze out at the rolling hills and wonder if grass was greener than anywhere else in the world. Then I'd reflect that there's a reason this country was the birthplace of golf.

The history of Teachers' Day traces back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). According to the record, during the Han and Jin dynasties, on August 27 each year, the birthday of Confucius, the emperor would go to the Confucius' temple and pay tribute (敬意) to the ancient philosopher followed by court officials, and would also invite royal teachers to the imperial court for a banquet. On this day, teachers around the nation enjoyed a day's vacation and were given dried meat as gifts.
The capital, all states and counties would also hold ceremonies to worship Confucius. Excellent performing teachers would be chosen from academies and learning institutions nationwide, reporting to the royal court and given 500 liang (两) silver coins as awards.
Until the Qing Dynasty, the ceremony, on August 27, was of a larger scale. The teachers' salaries in schools and academies around the nation were raised, and wellperforming teachers would be awarded official titles or promoted to higher positions.21*cnjy*com
Normally, an ancient teacher's income included salary, accommodation and festival gifts. There was no fixed tuition fee. Generally the parents paid teachers according to their household income. Both money and basic foodstuff could be paid in exchange for tuition.
In private schools, teachers always received money or gifts from the host family at certain festivals or at the beginning and end of each semester.
The festivals in which teachers received gifts varied from region to region, while the most valued ones were the Dragon Boat Festival, MidAutumn and Chinese New Year festivals, as well as Confucius' birthday and the private tutor's birthday.
Among all the giftgiving festivals, the first meeting gift was a must. When students met their private tutors for the first time, they had to kneel down to Confucius' spirit tablet and then to their private tutors before presenting a “gift”.

(2018届高三·河北石家庄二中联考)
In many developed countries, people who have high degrees begin to work longer than those who don't. About 65% of American men aged 62-74 with a professional degree are in the workforce (劳动人口), compared with 32% of men who only finish high school. This gap is part of a deepening divide between the welleducated wealthy and the unskilled poor. Rapid technological advance has raised the incomes of the highly skilled while squeezing those of the unskilled. The consequences, for individuals and society, are profound.
The world is facing an astonishing rise in the number of old people, and they will live longer than ever before. Over the next 20 years the global population of those aged 65 or more will almost double, from 600 million to 1.1 billion. The experience of the 20th century, when greater longevity (长寿) translated into more years in retirement rather than more years at work, has persuaded many observers that this shift (变化) will lead to slower economic growth, while the swelling (渐增的) ranks of pensioners will create government budget problems.
Policies are partly responsible. Many European governments have abandoned policies that used to encourage people to retire early. Even the betteroff must work longer to have a comfortable retirement. But the changing nature of work also plays a big role. Pay has risen sharply for the highly educated, and those people continue to reap (获得) rich rewards into old age because these days the educated elderly are more productive than the preceding (先前的) generation. Technological change may well reinforce (强化) that shift: the skills that complement (补充) computers, from management knowhow to creativity, do not necessarily decline with age.
32.What is the common phenomenon in the workforce in rich countries?21教育名师原创作品
A.Younger people are replacing the elderly.
B.Welleducated people tend to work longer.
C.People with no college degree cannot find any job.

解析:选B 细节理解题。根据第一段的第一句“In many developed countries, people who have high degrees begin to work longer than those who don't.”可知,在发达国家,受过良好教育的人的工作年限更长,故选B。
33.In view of the experience of the 20th century, many observers predict that ________.
A.economic growth will slow down
B.government budgets will decrease
C.more people will try to receive higher education【出处:21教育名师】
D.there will be more competition in the job market
解析:选A 细节理解题。根据第二段的最后一句“The experience of the 20th century ... will lead to slower economic growth, while the swelling (渐增的) ranks of pensioners will create government budget problems.”可知,选A。
34.According to the text, what is the result of policy changes in European countries?
A.Unskilled workers may choose to retire early.
B.More and more people have to go abroad to hunt for jobs.21cnjy.com
C.People may be able to use computers to do more complicated work.
D.Even wealthy people must work longer to live comfortably in retirement.
解析:选D 细节理解题。根据最后一段中的第三句“Even the betteroff must work longer to have a comfortable retirement.”可知,欧洲国家政策的变化导致富有的人也必须工作更长时间才能过上舒服的退休生活,故选D。

A.a completely different environment
