Two of the saddest words in the English language are “if only”. I live my life with the goal of never having to say those words, because they convey regret, lost opportunities, mistakes, and disappointment.
My father is famous in our family for saying, “Take the extra minute to do it right.” I always try to live by the “extra minute” rule. When my children were young and likely to cause accidents, I always thought about what I could do to avoid an “if only” moment, whether it was something minor like moving a cup full of hot coffee away from the edge of a counter, or something that required a little more work such as taping padding（衬垫）onto the sharp corners of a glass coffee table.

As you probably know, clothing has been around since the time of Adam and Eve – and it has become a lot more complex than the early fig leaf design. On the other hand, electronics have been with us for only a few hundred years – beginning with Franklin running around with his portable lightening rod. With gadgets more popular than ever these days, the combination of clothing and electronics was inevitable.

A company name Vivo Metrics has designed a different type of electronic garment. It’s called Life Shirt, and it’s a hearing monitoring system in a flexible, washable T-shirt.
Vivo Metrics has built a system that allows doctors to monitor more than 40 physiological signs (heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure, etc.) over extended periods of time while patients are away from a doctor’s office or hospital. One of the early target markets is people who suffer from sleep apnea（暂停）.

Finding the Real You
Psychometric testing---personality testing---has been very popular nowadays as studies show their results to be three times more accurate in predicting your job performance. These tests are now included in almost all graduate recruitment（招聘）and are widely used in the selection of managers.
The most popular of these personality tests is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBIT). It is based on the theory that we are born with a tendency to one personality type which stays more or less fixed throughout life. You answer 88 questions and are then given your “type”, such as Outgoing or Quiet, Feeling or Thinking.
Critics of personality testing raise doubts about “social engineering”. Psychologist Dr.
Colin Gill warns that the “popular” personality trait（s 特性）have their disadvantages. “People who
