Spain and Greece are now more popular than France or Italy. The travel to both places is cheaper in early summer. It is also cheaper to go by plane than to go by train, and it's easier to get a ticket in May than in June, July or August.

Most people think that Greece is prettier. Others say Spain is hotter and more expensive. Certainly hotels in Spain are far more expensive than those in Greece, but they are more comfortable (舒适的). Greece is much more interesting and it is far quieter than Spain.

Spain is nearer and one can get there more quickly. But Spain can be very crowded. Some people feel that Greece is more beautiful, the air is cleaner and the sea is bluer. Also the food is simpler in Greece.

Which Holiday? (杂志名) prefers (推荐) Greece this summer. Greece is the better choice.

Dear Liz,

Thailand is wonderful. Life in Bangkok is busy and interesting. My host family lives in a nice quiet town outside the city. There are Mr. and Mrs. Phairat, their son Sanan and their daughter Chinda in the family.

I go to an international (国际的) school with Sanan and Chinda. The school teaches are about 70% in English and 30% in Thai. I'm good at the spoken language, but Thai writing is very difficult. The cooking class is my favorite. I'm learning about Thai food and culture (文化). When I come back, I will cook you a real Thai meal.

Last weekend I went to Pattaya Beach with Sanan and Chinda by car. I thought it was great. Next month we will go to Phuket Island. My parents went there last year, and they said the sunshine and beaches there were very beautiful. Now Chinda is teaching me how to swim. I hope I can swim happily with her on Phuket Island. It will be my first time to swim in the sea.

Elephants are an important part of Thai culture and way of life. They are a symbol of Thailand for many years. People use them to do work. They also ride them and wash them. It looks very interesting.

According to a new report, 73 percent of Chinese travellers would like to visit Britain if they have a chance. And London was the most popular city among travellers from China. An average of 144,000 Chinese visitors visited London between 2004 and 2018, compared to 35,000 in Edinburgh every year. Other hot cities were Manchester, Cambridge, and Oxford.

More than 250,000 holidaymakers from China spent more than 500,000,000 pounds in the United Kingdom last year. That number is expected to rise. Visit Britain, the UK's tourism body, said Chinese tourists visited Britain for its ancient buildings and modern culture. Buckingham Palace tops the list of the most popular places of interest in the UK with 35 percent of those surveyed saying it was on their to-do-list. The next two are Chatsworth House and Edinburgh Castle. Places that provide a bird's eye view of London are also popular. The Shard and London Eye are on many people's visiting lists. The report read: "They are mostly interested in symbolic elements: the Royal Family, Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. The Chinese visits abroad more than doubled in five years, from about 41 million overnight stays in 2011 to 85 million in 2016. By 2020, there is thought to be 110 million trips overseas."

But few are interested in the UK's traditional food. They think it's not good to eat. According to Visit Britain, fewer than one in ten said they would have fish and chips at the seaside. It noted that Chinese holidaymakers might enjoy delicious wine, cheese and milk products, dessert etc. However, many Chinese tourists would like to have Chinese food once in a while.

Surfing is the name for riding ocean waves on special boards. Did you know that surfing has been around for more than 200 years? At first the sport was rougher (粗野的) and harder than it is today.

For one thing the early surfboards were heavy. They weighed as much as 150 pounds. A surfer needed great strength (力量) just to get the board from the beach to the water! Also the early surfers didn't ride standing up. They rode just lying on their stomachs. That was the only way to control the large boards.

Those surfers lived in the islands of Polynesia, in the South Pacific. In 1778 the surfers took the sport to Hawaii. There surfing quickly became popular. The beaches and waves of Hawaii are perfect for surfing.

In 1907 George Freeth was the first person to ride a wave in the United States. He surfed in Redondo Beach in California.

For years the sport of surfing spread slowly. In the 1950s surfing was known as a young people's sport because mostly young people seemed to enjoy it. In 1961 rules for surfers were written. The surfers themselves, along with some surfboard companies, made up the rules.

Today surfers are looked upon as sportsmen. Southern California is still the surfing center of the United States. Thousands of people surf there. Thousands more are fans of famous surfers. Surfing is here to stay.

Surfers must still be strong. To surf, a person should be able to swim well, both on top of and under the water. A surfer must also be able to float (漂浮) for a long time. A good surfer must keep his or her eyes open at all times, even underwater.

Hello, boys and girls. My name is Li Jing. I am a girl student. I am thirteen years old. I think as students, we should work hard at school on weekdays. But we also need to have a good rest to relax ourselves. So I always study hard when I am at school, but on my day off I often do something else to relax myself.

I had a very relaxing day off last week. In the morning, I got up at seven o'clock. Then I went to run with my father. I think we need to exercise every day. After all, it's important to keep healthy. After running, I took a shower and had breakfast. At nine o'clock. I went to the aquarium with my friends. We saw some sharks and seals there. Do you worry about your health? Have you tried to run or walk for exercise and then quit? If you answer yes, you should try a new type of exercise: aquatic exercise. Aquatic exercise is a kind of exercise you do in a swimming pool. For example, you can run, walk, or even do a mind-body practice, such as yoga.

More and more people are trying aquatic exercise. In the United States, the number has grown by 25% in recent years. People in other countries are also doing aquatic exercise more frequently.

Aquatic exercise has many benefits. First of all, it feels easier than exercising on land. Why? You weigh about 90% less in the pool. It is also better for your knees than running or walking.

Aquatic exercise feels easy, but you still burn calories(卡). Water is 1,000 times thicker and heavier than air. In the same amount of time, you can burn more calories in the pool than in the gym. That's because it takes more energy to move in the water.

But what if you are scared of the water? No problem! There is nothing to worry about. Aquatic exercise is safe and easy to learn. It doesn't require any special skills. For most kinds of aquatic exercise, you don’t even need to know how to swim.

In fact, most people say they feel more relaxed in the water. They stop thinking about the things that make them anxious. The cool and quiet environment makes them exercise more.

Aquatic exercise is suitable for everyone. You can do it at any age. It can even help people who have been hurt in accidents. With aquatic exercise, they can move in ways they can't on land. For example, some people who can't walk can walk and even run in the water.

Many people run for exercise. But what will you do if you are not a "born" runner or jogger (慢跑者)? You may still want a kind of exercise that's not expensive or easy to do. Why not try walking?

Walking requires no special equipment (装备). It is a kind of exercise that almost any normal, healthy person can do. Walking is good for your health like jogging or running; it will just take longer. Jogging and running make your heart work harder than walking. They also put more stress on your legs and feet than walking does.

The problem with walking is that most people don't take it seriously. But there's a big difference between serious walking and the walking that most of us do. Walking, like jogging, should have a steady and continuous motion (稳健而持续的动作).

If you want to get your exercise by walking, you need to have your own walking plan. After all, runners and joggers set goals for themselves. Walkers need goals, too. You also need to set a course to walk. Start by walking about 15-30 minutes a day. Increase your time and distance (距离) slowly. And try increasing your walking speed little by little.

If you prefer to (更喜欢) jog or run, follow the same advice. Start off slowly. Spend most of the first few days just walking. Then, start walking and running on the same day. Run or jog a short distance, then walk for a while, then, run, then walk. Follow that pattern for 15-30 minutes a day. Slowly make each run longer and each walk shorter. Later on, you can increase your distance, speed and exercise time.

I enjoy listening to music, and I always have some music playing during my free time. I listen to all types, but I enjoy listening to beautiful piano music. Some people can't study while listening to music, but for me, I believe I can study better by listening to light songs.

Some people choose to relax by travelling. I don't have a favourite place, but I hear that travelling in Japan is really enjoyable. I like visiting different kinds of places and eating famous snacks. I also enjoy sightseeing (观光) and seeing how the culture and people change from place to place.
