l Do you often eat in fast food restaurants? l What do you think of fast food? l Give some examples of Chinese fast food restaurants. |
While-reading |
Today you can find fast food restaurants in almost every part of our city. In some streets you can find a Mc Donald’s next to a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, while across the street from the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant there may be a Pizza Hut restaurant. People like fast food restaurants because they are convenient. They are open from early in the morning until late at night, and they are open most days of the year.
In a fast food restaurant you usually stand in a queue in front of the counter. Above the counter are pictures of all the different items you can order and their prices. After you give your order, the men behind the counter prepares it very quickly, usually in less than three minutes. Then they give you your order in a paper bag or cardboard box. You pay for it. Then you can eat it in the restaurant or take it outside.

Many people do not like to stay at home on holidays. They want to go out to see something different or do something interesting. So people from the country come to the city and people from the city go to the country for holidays. During the holidays trains, buses and planes are all very busy. It is very hard to buy train tickets or air tickets. Many people take cars or buses for travelling.
Last May Day my family went to the country by car for our holiday. There was too much traffic on the road, so we had to move very slowly. It took us about an hour to get out of the town. After some time, we came to a hill. It was green and beautiful. We thought this was a good place for a picnic, so we stopped and took the food, fruit and drinks out of the car. We sat down and began to eat. Suddenly a strong wind blew and soon it started to rain. We had to run back to our car and have our food in the car. Then we drove back home. What a sad holiday!
